Relying on income from your website is definitely not a good idea, especially if it is your first one. Because you have no idea if the process even works at that point, you may end up spending lots of time doing something that ends up being worthless. It takes far more time than you can ever imagine in order to turn your website into a way to make passive income, so it’s best for you to have another way to make money before you solely rely on your website.

Sometimes having another job while you work through internet marketing on the side is a better habit to get into. It’s too stressful if you rely on your website and then something happens, taking away all of your income. Having a safety net due to your other help will help you thinking rationally when the bad things happen.
