Follow Your Dreams: Don’t Let Them Die!
What do you enjoy in life? Do you get paid to do that? Would you like to? Doesn’t it seem better to do what you enjoy and get paid for it instead of only working at jobs you hate because you need the money? I know that when you were a kid, you had dreams, but did you follow up on them? Do you remember them?
I never understood why so many people were always so miserable in their lives. Why would people put up with so much BS from life and work and yet do nothing in terms of their dreams. It’s really odd. Whenever someone tries to pursue their dreams, after the first roadblock, they quit. But if they have multiple roadblocks at work, they’ll keep putting up with it even when it’s no longer worth it. Why do people let their bosses push them around at work? Because of money? You can’t afford to get fired? So you’re telling me that you rather work your entire life in a job you hate, being ordered by bosses you hate, and have no joy in your entire life? Why live like that?
Life is supposed to be fun, not a chore. If you want your life to be exciting, make it exciting. I know you have dreams; everyone did when they were little. But so little ever pursue their dreams. I’m not sure why. Perhaps life takes people by surprise and before you know it, twenty years pass by. Maybe various problems appeared such as “I need to pay my bills, I really need that new TV, and my car broke down.” All of those are mere excuses. If you want to make something of yourself, then stop making them.
Is that all that dreams are? A mere fantasy? I refuse to believe that. I believe that if you let your dreams die, it’s your fault. If you let life and circumstances push you around, you’ll never accomplish anything. And that’s truly a shame. If you let life pass you by, imagine what life will be like in your old age. So much time has passed, emergencies just keep popping up, but are we any closer to our dreams? There will always be ways to be sidetracked, but you need the audacity to ignore them and keep going.
Was it a serious question when we were asked as kids about our dreams and what we wanted to be when we grew up? Or was it just a trick question? An illusion? A tease? If it was a serious question, why don’t we go after it? It’s not that much harder besides “Just do it and then keep going.” If there are problems, solve them. Problems may actually be opportunities in disguise. Who knows, you may find something better then what you had before. But if you don’t look for it, you’ll never find it. If you don’t ask for it, it won’t happen.
Would you like to lie on your deathbed and think “Hey, I wanted to work more at the job I hate.” No, that never happens. Everyone wishes they did something different. Everyone has regrets and dreamed of what could have been. How could we lose track along the way? This can’t be how life ends, could it? It doesn’t have to be. If you want to make a change in your life, go after it. If you don’t try to follow your dreams, they’ll end up falling by the wayside. And then your life will only end with sorrows and regrets. Is that how you want life to end? Life is supposed to be fun and exciting. I, for one, refuse to let life slip through my fingers. How about you?
