Think about Your Future: Get a Retirement Savings Account Now!
There are many reasons why someone holds off paying for their retirement. Whether someone believes that they will die before ever reaching retirement, that they have plenty of time to save up money, or people think that they don’t make enough money to save, sometimes saving for retirement just doesn’t happen. You may not think that you need a retirement savings account but if you want to make sure that you have a retirement at all then you do.
If you believe that you will die before reaching retirement, then you’ll probably be wrong. Unless you have a terminal illness right now, then you are likely not to die. Even though obesity is reaching all-time highs, people are also living longer as well. Even if your diet isn’t the best and you hardly exercise, it will still take forever for you to keel over from a heart attack. Heart attacks may not even kill you outright; it will just paralyze you so you wouldn’t be able to get around so well. The only thing that eating unhealthy food and not exercising does is cripple you, but it won’t kill you. And the older you get, the harder it will be to make money and take care of yourself. Do yourself a favor and save more for your retirement. If something happens to you later in life, you definitely won’t regret saving up your money.
“But I have plenty of time!” You may say. But is that really true? Face it, time flies faster than you think. When you were young, you thought you could conquer the world. But then life intervened. You got married, you had a kid, you decided to focus on your career, you tried to spend your life having fun, or something else happened. Before you know it, you look back at your life and realize that you didn’t much besides work all the time. You let life slip by and you didn’t appreciate your loved ones well enough. You didn’t spend time with your kids or your significant other and then poof, they moved on and left. If you let life slip past you this much, then you can’t afford to let retirement slip away too.
If you don’t save more for your future, then the same thing will happen in retirement that happened in your life. It will pass you by and then before you know it, your chance is over. If you have no savings in retirement then you’ll have to do one of two things. Keep working or mooch from someone else. Working at such an old age will not only be harder on you, but why shouldn’t you get a reward for working your entire life? There won’t be any time to rest, not to mention life will not be very fulfilling at this point. Mooching from someone else, whether it be your kids or the government, is not a better option because you’re causing them unnecessary strain. How is that a way to treat someone? To be an endless burden on another just because you weren’t responsible enough. You may rationalize it any way you want, you raised your kids while you were able so they should now take care of you, or the government owes it to you to take care of you, or some other reason but the fact is that you can take care of yourself now while you can.
